Maya Becton

My name is Maya Becton and I am a sophomore at SHSU studying Animal science and Agbusiness. I am also on the rodeo team running barrels. I have been riding horses since I was 7 years old and training horses for the past 5 years at Ride the Wind Stables. While I was there I also taught lessons to various age groups and levels of experiences. Lessons would include how to saddle a horse, mounting, and riding. Depending on the rider would decide what we would focus on for the lesson. I have a very strong passion and love for horses. I can’t wait to start helping Stone Cottage Ranch and working with them!

Annsley Hurst

My name is Annsley Hurst, and two of the biggest parts of my life are kids and rodeo. I’ve been riding horses since I could walk. I especially love speed events. One of my favorite things is being able to help younger riders and share what I’ve learned along the way. Passing on knowledge and encouraging kids is something I truly care about. I’m currently a senior in high school and will be graduating not only with my diploma, but also with my associate degree in education. I plan to attend college to pursue a degree in nursing while also competing on my college’s rodeo team. Some of my rodeo accomplishments include being named 4-H State Champion – Stakes (2022), 4-H District All Around Yearling Halter Champion (2023) and 4-H District Champion – Barrel Racing (2025). I’ve also earned multiple pole bending titles, including 4-H Reserve State Champion – Pole Bending (2024 & 2025), STBRA Pole Bending Youth Champion (2024), STBRA Pole Bending Reserve Open Champion (2024), Smokin Guns Reserve Pole Bending Open Champion (2025), and Smokin Guns Reserve Pole Bending Youth Champion (2025).
